House of Music Project in Hampi
Since 2016, Gali Durugappa has been offering Sound Healing Meditation, instrument swap, music lessons, jam sessions and concerts in Hampi.
Gali was born in a Hagari Bommanahalli, a village 53km from Hampi. He started playing music since he was a child and this passion brought him to Hampi, a UNESCO heritage site with a hippie backpackers vibe all year long.
He opened a small Music House in Hippy Village where he teachers music, jams, swaps and sells instruments and, since the last few years, offers Sound Healing Meditation in the nature.
Gali has the project of building a House of Music in Hampi, where musicians and people from all over the world can participate and build a music community in this part of India. For this project, 10.000USD are needed in order to buy the land and start this music

What is the House of Music Project?
Gali has the project of building a House of Music in Hampi, where musicians and people from all over the world can participate and build a music community in this part of India.
This will be a place where people can gather, share experiences and knowledge, and exchange collaborations. This will be a great way to spread music around Hampi, India and the whole world. The house of music will be eco-friendly with non-business purposes, where everyone can contribute to build this community.
For this project, 10.000USD are needed in order to buy the land and build the facilities. That is why, we are creating a crowdfunding in order to achieve and make this project in Hampi.

Information about Hampi
Hampi is located on the banks of river Tungbhadra, in the state of Karanataka, India. It is world renowned for the ruins of the glorious capital of the Vijayanagar empire back centuries ago.
The ruins of temples and palaces of the empire of Vijayanagar are the main attraction of Hampi for pilgrims and travelers from all over the world. Besides, Hampi is famous for boulder climbing and for being a backpackers must-to-visit in India. Some of the most attractive monuments are the Lotus Mahal, Virupashka Temple or Achyutaraya Temple.
Nowadays, it is still possible to spend some days in one of the guest houses located on both sides of the river: Hampi or Happy Island, but the future of this area is not sure due to the tensions between the locals and authorities. So, maybe this village will disappear and relocate further from the archaeological site. Besides of the historical site, Hampi has much more to offer! Amazing sunsets from Matanga Hill or Sunset Point of Hippy Island, boulder-climbing, bike rides or river swimming.
When to visit Hampi?
The best time to visit Hampi is from October to February, when the temperature is pleasant all day long so it is excellent to visit the archaeological site or boulder-climbing.
Accommodation in Hampi
There are several guest houses on both sides of the river. In Hampi Bazaar, nearby the temples there are guesthouses as well as on the other side of the river, as known as Hippy Island, you can stay in bamboo cottages.
How to reach Hampi
The closest train station of Hampi is Hosapete Junction. From there, you can take a public bus or a Rickshaw to Hampi. Also, it is possible to reach Hampi by bus from most of the cities of India or main touristic spots like Goa, Gokarna or Munnar.
